From knee rips in denim jeans to over-sized band tees and "just hopped out of bed" hair, Grunge style fashion has made it's return, with style stars like Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain to remind us just how it should be done.
Kurt Cobain's distressed and patched denim styles are the main component to his grunge appeal. Rips by the knees are the most popular and paired with something simple and loose fitting on top, like his well known cardigans, completes the overall grunge look.
Classic Chuck Taylors
Kurt Cobain's grunge style was an assembled collection of All-American pieces but worn in a looser and "tattered" looking fit. Classic Chuck Taylors were the go-to shoe and are still one of today's top pieces for a grunge look.
Courtney Love was known for pioneering what she called a "kinder-whore" style. Mixing baby-doll dresses with lace and frills in bright colors and pairing them with bold red lips, black eyeliner, messy hair, and "grunging" it all up with fishnet tights, big leather boots, layers, and rips and tears here and there.
